What SuperCoach actually is
SuperCoach is salary-cap fantasy sport. You are handed a budget, you buy a squad of real players, and every week those players earn you fantasy points based on what they do in real games — possessions, tackles, tries, goals, rebounds, clean sheets, whatever the sport rewards.
Two things move at once: your score and your players' prices. Players who out-perform their price get more expensive, players who under-perform get cheaper. Winning a season is as much about buying the right players at the right time as it is about picking the best players.
The three levers you actually control
Selection — who is in your 'on-field' team each round. Points only count from players who actually play.
Trades — a limited number of swaps for the whole season. Every trade you burn on a mistake is one you can't spend on an injury or a cash-generating rookie.
Structure — how your budget is spread. Loading up on premium players means cheap, risky picks elsewhere; spreading evenly means fewer weak links but a lower ceiling.
The rookie cycle: how you make money
Cheap first-year or fringe players start on a low price. If they play and score above what that price expects, their value rises fast. Sell them once the growth slows and use the cash to upgrade to a premium.
This 'downgrade, hold, upgrade' loop is the engine of a good SuperCoach season. Most people who finish poorly didn't pick badly — they ran out of cash and trades by the middle of the year.
Common beginner traps
Chasing last week's big score. One huge game rarely repeats, and you pay a premium price for it.
Trading for form instead of role. A player's minutes, position and set-piece duties matter more than a single scoreline.
Ignoring the bye or split rounds. In leagues with representative or split rounds, the coaches who plan two or three weeks ahead win those weeks by default.
Emotional picks. Your club's cult hero is not automatically a points machine.
