The basics
- You build a squad across the standard positions — hooker, halves, centres, edge and middle forwards — inside a salary cap.
- Only your on-field players score. Bench cover matters when the late team lists drop.
- Trades are limited for the season, so budget them like money.
How scoring works
- Base stats do most of the work: tackles, runs, run metres, offloads, line breaks and try involvements.
- Middle forwards and hookers score heavily off volume — tackles and involvements — rather than attacking highlights.
- Outside backs are more boom-or-bust because their scores lean on tries, line breaks and metres.
Strategy that actually moves the needle
- Minutes are king in the middles. A forward playing 60+ minutes at a cheap price is worth more than a star on a rotation.
- Target players with a locked role change — a new hooker, a promoted goal-kicker, a middle moving into a starting spot.
- Late mail matters more here than anywhere: team lists shift on the day and a non-playing on-field spot is a zero.
Your first week
- Pick a structure before you pick players: how many premiums, how many rookies.
- Fill your cheap spots only with players who are genuinely named to play round one.
- Leave yourself trades early — the first three rounds always break someone's team.
