The SuperCoach Cup is one of the most exciting additions to the game and proof that anyone can win in SuperCoach regardless of where they sit on the overall leaderboard.
How You Qualify
At the completion of Round 6, all 131,072 qualifying teams receive a ranking based on their score for that round. Each team in the top 65,536 is then randomly matched against a team in the bottom 65,536 in a one week qualifying round. Win and you are into the SuperCoach Cup proper. Lose and you are out, regardless of your overall rank.
How the Cup Works
The knockout process repeats each round from Round 7 onwards, with the major bye rounds of 12, 15, and 18 skipped to account for reduced player availability. Teams are progressively eliminated until just two remain, who then face off in Round 26 for the SuperCoach Cup trophy and $1,000 in cash.
Anyone Can Win
What makes the SuperCoach Cup so compelling is that it is a genuine equaliser. Catch a highly ranked team on a bad week, nail a genius captaincy call, display your footy expertise, or just fluke your way to a higher total - however you get there, a win is a win and you are into the next round. A coach sitting outside the top 50,000 overall can knock out one of the competition's elite teams if the stars align on the right weekend.

The SuperCoach Cup is brand new and I am writing this after Round 9 of 2026, which means I am living it in real time. My wife just got knocked out with a score of 1550 - which in any other week would have been more than enough. That score was in the top 2% for the round. Gone. Knocked out. That is the Cup. You can do everything right and still go home if your opponent happens to have the week of their life.
Braino and I are both still alive - a 1456 and a 1511 respectively. I look at my opponent this week and despite being the higher ranked coach, this person looks absolutely stacked. And here is the thing - as a podcaster I cannot just throw trades at a single Cup matchup. I have a season to manage, content to make, and a reputation to protect. That is exactly what gives a casual coach the chance to knock off a now well known podcaster. And honestly? That is what makes the Cup brilliant.
