2025 Recap

The Dolphins were pure chaos and pure entertainment. They finished the regular season as the best attacking side in the competition, which is an incredible achievement considering how much their roster has shifted year to year.

Defence was another story, landing them in 11th, but their ability to pile on points kept them in the finals frame all season.

SuperCoach wise, they were gold, finishing 5th overall with 51.53 points per player. They’re unpredictable, flashy, and volatile, but that volatility is exactly what makes them fun in both real footy and fantasy.

SuperCoach Player I’m Keen On

Let’s start with the special mention. Morgan Knowles – $332,800 Another English middle lands in the NRL and Knowles looks the part. He’s not Nicholson level in terms of upside, but he’s a well rounded, reliable workhorse. At 29, he is what he is, but with Plath out for a month, the minutes will be there for him to make an impression. He won’t blow the roof off, but he could easily become one of those cheap middles everyone suddenly owns by round 3.

Now, the main event.

Selwyn Cobbo – $528,100

I can already hear people groaning, but hear me out. Jack Bostock is aiming for a round 10 return, which gives Cobbo a long enough runway to do real damage early. And with full respect to Bostock, his meteoric 300k price rise last year had a lot to do with playing outside Herbie Farnworth. Now Cobbo gets that luxury.

These mid priced CTWs are often the difference between a good start and a great one. Cobbo brings tackle busting, offloading, and natural finishing ability, and he’s walking straight into premium attacking opportunities. At this price, with that role, he’s firmly on my starting radar.

Player I’m Fading

Herbie Farnworth – $818,200

You know the meme. Jesse Pinkman yelling, he can’t keep getting away with it.

Herbie scored 11 tries in a 13 game stretch. Incredible footy. Incredible SuperCoach returns. But it’s simply not sustainable. At over 800k, with a breakeven the size of Queensland, you’re paying for the absolute peak of his production.

The Dolphins were the top attacking team in 2025, and I don’t expect that again in 2026. Regression has to hit somewhere, and Herbie is the obvious candidate. He’s in my plans once he drops 200–250k, not at round 1 prices.

Breakout Option for Round 1

Morgan Knowles – $332,800

Knowles isn’t Smithies-level boring, but he’s not Taumalolo in his prime either. What he is, though, is exactly what makes early season moneymakers work: soft hands, a solid motor, and the chance at expanded minutes while Plath is out. He will outperform this price. Maybe not in highlight reel fashion, but in steady, reliable, money building fashion. And that’s more important in round 1.
