Rams Vs 49ers| Rapid reaction

The 49ers put on an absolute clinic today against the consensus Superbowl favorite Rams. Its easy to say that 24 hours on the ground in Melbourne for the Rams was a bad idea, and the Rams did look flat, but with a 34 min / 26 min split in time in possession for the 49ers, that might also be why they looked so terrible in the second half.

Don’t say it. Don’t say it. Don’t say it. Don’t overreact to Week 1 SC scores. Having said that lets look and overreact  to the SC numbers.

KEY SUPERCOACH STORYLINES

A lot to unpack here for 2 teams that were predicted to be amongst the highest scoring teams in real life NFL - 

1. The QB dual - Stafford the 2nd most expensive QB, and owned by 7.2%. Brock Purdy 5th most expensive and owned by 1.9%. I’d be shocked if Stafford has a scorer lower than the 10 he scored today, for the rest of the season. Purdy with 3 TD’s plus 29 yards on the ground, it will be interesting to see where 43 points see him ranked at the QB position at the end of the week. Will he be one of the most purchased players in Week 2? Probably. You can overreact to bad scores, but you can also overreact to good scores. 49ers looked the goods though.

2. De’Zhaun Stribling - 30% owned - ZERO POINTS - The 10th most popular WR (4th ranked rookie) only played 12 snaps before a non contact injury ended his day. Doesn’t look good. Could be the first season ending injury for the 49ers. Veterans Mike Evans (1.9% owned) and Deebo Samuel (1.4% owned)were always WR1 and WR2 in this offense, and both priced in the 12 million dollar zone. If this offense keeps looking like this, they will be worth a look. Health issues will remain though.

3. Rams DST - The 5th most expensive and 2nd most popular choice with an uninspiring 4 point SC outing. They were the victims of a Kyle Shanahan/Brock Purdy surgical demolition today. Can Aaron Donald improve things? Surely. You can’t be burning a trade on DST in Week 2. Stay the course

4. 49ers DST - Priced at 28th ranked and the 6th most owned DST, the 6.2% owners will be very happy with this pick. But did you play them??

5. Puka - The 19 points on the face of it looks below expectations. He was a bees dick from a touchdown, which would’ve changed his SC outing. Stafford only threw the ball 25 times, in the strange game script, and 9 of those were targeting Puka. Don’t panic here.

6. CMC - 10 carries and 5 receptions on 8 targets for 88 total yards. The TD’s will come for the most expensive, and 8th most owned SC RB. I repeat - DON’T PANIC.

7. George Kittle - The 2nd most expensive, and highly overpriced Kittle, he sat at 10th most owned (7%) TE. 2 catches on 5 targets when Brock Purdy throws the ball 34 times. 

8. Kyren Williams - Felt over priced at 18.5 million dollars (11th most expensive RB), but 27 SC points on 14 touches, in a side that was dominated will have the 6.3% of Supercoach’s that own him feeling pretty good about it.

9. Eddy Piniero - How a 50 yard field goal is worth more than a QB touchdown is one of the great stains on the SC scoring system, but Piniero’s 22 point outing shows how important the K position is. It’s also a lottery position, and good luck trying to get it right each week. Eddy averaged 20 SC points last year, good for 10th overall average. Ka’imi Fairbairn led the K’s with a 25.9 average. I am staying the course with my 2 x rookie K’s, in the hope they can emulate Charlie Smyth and Andy Borregales, the top 2 rookies from last year, who both made north of $7 million dollars profit for owners.
