2 Games on opening night and both have us questioning everything.
Adelaide v United
What we got right:
Cheatham was active. Whilst it didn't translate massively (30SC) his 18 pts, 7 rebounds, 3 assist and a block combined with a mammoth 37minutes on court shows the potential. Missed BE and at 339k is pricey but he will have games where it all comes together. Those who don't own should still monitor his price.
Cotton was unaffected by the move to SG and ended up with a classic cotton stat line of 29pts 7 assists for 42SC and ridiculously still missed BE. He's a round 2 target for many but will likely shed some dollars in the process. Can you justify paying that much?
Flynn Cameron was great, until he went down with an injured ankle? Played almost every first half minute and was on track for a big score. at 240k he's a steal. We will keep an eye on his health. If he's out for longer we will explore Jenkins when he returns.
Rakocevic just missed the double double with 14points 9 rebounds,. A few offensive fouls and turnovers dampened the score but at 188k he had 22SC in 25mins. There's a feeling he has the potential to be a 30SC guy on any night.
Rigoni got the start and at 69k had plenty of opportunity. 8pts, 5rb, and 1 ass for 9SC has his price trending up.
What we got wrong:
Melbourne United's starting line up. WTF. Cole Anthony, Ingles, and Waardenburg all started on the bench.
Cole is a scorer and will lead the league. Had 30pts in 22 mins off the bench and his speed and jumper were a level above anyone on the floor not named Bryce Cotton. 30 pts for 34SC was a little worrying. Pre-season had me thinking there was a lot more to his game. One hot day doesn't make a summer though...
Ingles was super productive for 34SC in only 25 minutes. Was never a look for me but my interest has been peaked. He spends time at point guard and the 7 assists didn't feel like a one off.
Oduro battled foul trouble buty showed he has a SC friendly game. Need to remember that these scores will drop out of the United players 3 game average with the Henshall Rule.
Travers did a bit of everything for 26SC in 30 minutes but I still have a nagging feeling that he is a low ceiling guy.
SEM V PERTH
This game was full of surprises. We knew there was no Sobey, what we didn't know was how much Krebs and Dash (Not Mays) would fill the gap.
Dash Daniels was easily the MVP of the game crashing the boards early and often and leaving no doubt he belongs. A career-high in points (24) and rebounds (12), his first career double-double and a lovely little reward for owners with 41SC.
Tanner Krebs also made the most of the extra minutes after coming across from United in the offseason. He had a game and was ultra assertive from the jump looking for his shot. 25 PTS | 4 REB | 3 STL | 5 3PM.
Import Skylar Mays was barely whelming. Tipped to go big in the absence of Sobey I have cooled on him dramatically. He looked incredibly rusty in the first-half, found some form in the fourth, finishing on 16 PTS | 3 REB | 6 AST. 26SC was like a C minus. The 4 Turnovers dampened the night, without them maybe youi could argue 34Sc is passable. I'll be moving on from him swiftly.
As for Perth, what a train wreck. Outside of Doo ( 25 PTS | 6 REB | 7 AST - 46SC) was not much to get excited about. The lack of a PG was evident but still, there is dysfunction all over. One of the most owned Anthony Dell'Orso, who had a really solid pre-season, mustered up just ONE shot the entire game (19:50 minutes) and had a putrid -2SC. Not too late to move on from him to Dash and lock in some cash
Another 2 Games today with Breakers v Hawks and Kings V Cairns.
How's your squad looking so far?
