Buy Low
Bennedict Mathurin - Rebounds - stable. Assists - stable. Threes - slightly down. Turnovers - down. Percentages - slightly down. So why are stocks so low with Mathurin? It seems that the usage is down. Mathurin has attempted 4 less shots a game over the last week, which has seen his points scored go from 20 to 11. The Pacers have looked particularly average this last fortnight and Mathurin is no exception. This being said, beside the pending return of Nesmith - what you see with this Pacers' unit is what you get. Mathurin's healthy shot diet is not going to be impacted, so expect to see, if not an season increasing in scoring, at least a levelling out.
Kristaps Porzingis - Much of what I am to say here is going to be directly contradicted by what you will read if you scroll down to Zion, but hear me out. If you have an IR slot free you can get Zinga for dimes on the dollar. What this man can do, while unwell, in only 20 minutes is simply outstanding. How Zinga differs from Zion is that he is dealing with an illness, not an injury. Meaning if they can get him sorted he will be back in action on a team that will, by then, have Trae. I have seen Porzingis dropped in leagues, meaning you can offer up close to nothing to get him. Imagine the impact he will have in your fantasy playoffs if all is right by then.
Zach LaVine - A diagnosis leaving him as re-evaluated in a week will be the final nail in the coffin for many LaVine owners. But let's not forget a few things making him a buy low: he has had a 34 and 42 point game in his last 6. He is one of only a handful of only a few .500/.800/.400 guys presently in the NBA. And finally - something is going top give in SAC, with players moving out and moving in, surely the situation for LaVine can't get much worse whether he stays or heads...
Sell High
Jabari Smith Jr - The last three games have been pretty impressive from Jabari. 17/10/4 in 40 minutes is certainly encouraging from a promising young man who has let us down in the past. The biggest cause for concern that this production drops off begins with the return of Tari Eason, who looks like he will be back next game. Tari's time at the four will bring that 40 minutes back down closer to a much more humble 30. Okogie was also excellent in Houston's game vs Denver, meaning that he, too, may get some more starts in the future.
Zion Williamson - Guess when is sell high for Zion? Any time he finishes a game where he doesn't go to the locker room before the final siren. Zion's back for a "limited time only" putting up a humble line coming off the bench. There will never be a time where you feel secure with Zion on your roster, so you can gamble for another 2-3 games, waiting for him to put up 30pts back in the starting line-up and see whether you can get a little more value from him, or you can pull the trigger now and be done with the perpetual nature of this man.
Stephon Castle - He has averaged .500 for the field for the entire season, but over the last 3 games the free-throw percentage has risen from barely over .700 to comfortably over .800. The threes are hitting, the points are up, however the assists are down. The pecking order from Fox, Castle and Harper this season seems clear, but we are about to see Fox, Wemby and Castle in the starting line-up together with a fully healthy Spurs. As we have learned in the past it is most often the "3rd guy" who take the hit, so you might want to get ahead of it and sell up on Castle now while the value is highest.
Happy fantasies - Tell your fantasy competitors they have stunning eyes, see where that gets you with your trades.
