Here we are on the eve of the first price rises for SC NFL, in what is arguably the most important week to get your trades right. I envy those that don’t need to boost this week. I will be using my first one.
I have a theory - Trading healthy bodies in this brutal sport, is a last resort. An avoid if possible. Looking at the most traded out players this week, 9 of the 14 names on the list are either already ruled out with INJ or are listed as questionable. You could use all your trades on INJ players, and still run out of trades, the way this season is heading.
I am also sitting in 6052th overall and going against my theory and fucking Justin Herbert off out of my team. In my defense though, Herbert (and Ladd and AJ Brown) departing my team, has allowed me to bring in JSN and St Brown, and Denzel Boston. A WR at flex is a risky move. I haven’t decided on who my QB for the flex spot is yet, but I do know you need JSN, so ill watch for a couple more weeks and decide between Burrow, Mahomes, Lamar or Caleb Williams as my second QB. I like Mahomes, especially given he gets his bye out of the way in week 5 (which is why I can’t bring him in this week)
That's enough about me. Lets look at the trade trends -
TOP 15 TRADED OUT
1. Colston Loveland - I am an owner. He gets an extra week due to the “DNP” in week 1, so no dramatic price drop this week. Might only be without his QB for 1-2 weeks, but wasnt looking that good even when Williams was playing. You are doing well if he is a priority sell for you this week
2. Puka - Its Thursday and he still hasn’t practised. Listed as Questionable, I think you need to wait for some more concrete news over the weekend before moving him on. Unless you are going to JSN or St Brown
3. Saquon Barkley - Another listed as Questionable, but it feels like this might be a regular occurrence to a RB with plenty of miles on him. Barkley to Walker III banks you cash to upgrade, will make you cash and will probably get you more points as well.
4. Makai Lemon - I think its too early to give up on this rookie. He only needs one TD, for a money making cycle to start. Patience was always going to be the strategy for an uninspiring rookie class of WR’s. Stay the course.
5. Malik Nabers - Questionable and no quarterback - Cut and run
6. De’Zhaun Stribling - He is in my team and not the priority trade out right now. Stribling to Boston though is an easy decision, depending on team make up
7. Caleb Williams - A “mildly serious hamstring injury”, what does that even mean? 1-2 weeks out apparently
8. Carnell Tate - See Lemon. Same applies
9. DJ Moore - Another on the questionable list - Have fun looking for updates late on Sunday night our time, with him in the 3am time slot Monday morning.
10. Luther Burden 3rd of his name - Curious case - 12 targets through the first two games, and the Williams injury not as bad as first thought. Can you afford to hold him as a NPR??
11. Ladd McConkey - Guilty as charged. Playing injured in an absolutely atrocious Chargers offense, he has been booted from my team, albeit guilt by association with Justin Herbert
12. Brock Bowers - Another questionable on the list. Frustrating for owners, thankfully I am not one of them.
13. Joe Burrow - Steelers, Jaguars and Dolphins for the next 3 games before the week 6 bye. Luxury trade that makes no sense.
14. Jaxson Dart - Season over. Goodbye
15. Jonathon Brooks - IR 6-8 weeks - Farewell to a cash cow that promised little, and still managed to deliver less.
Question for you - How much is a trade worth? Its a loaded question, which might have many different answers. Its a survey of one (a team that finished 1286th last year), but my team value started at 278 million, and finished the season valued at 360 million. 82 million in value increase, divided by 26 trades, that gives you a value of 3.15 million. Its not a perfect science, and before doing this exercise, I had in my head a trade was worth around 4 million. It aint going to be easy generating cash early, compared to last year’s elite rookie contributors. Anyways, we digress -
TOP 15 TRADED IN
1. Denzel Boston - Been a long time since Watson has made a WR relevant, and surely he cant keep scoring TD’s, but he is the best chance we have of a big money making player at this point. A must add.
2. Dalton Kincaid - He has missed 5 and 4 games the previous 2 seasons, and like a lot of the TE’s out there, will always be an injury worry. If you are making this trade, my question to you is this - Is he a season long keeper, or is it a money making trade??
3. Josh Allen - Take the ego blow and stop fading this man. Sacrifice elsewhere. Needs to be done.
4. JSN - Speaking of ego blows, me fading JSN was a big mistake, which i have corrected this week.
5. Kenneth Walker III - Gonna make bank, but might be irrelevant as he is shaping up as a season long keeper. Chiefs offense is rolling on the back of the KDub3 production.
6. St Brown - Yep, I got this wrong as well. WR’s are balling out. One caveat here, which has my attention - week 6 bye teams - Bengals (Chase), Lions (Gibbs & St Brown) and the Vikings (JJ). Dolphins also on the bye, but they, well they are the Dolphins
7. CeeDee Lamb - Has he dispelled the preseason talk of Lamb and Pickens operating as 1A and 1B receivers?? The target share is pretty even, with Lamb 17 and Pickens 14, Lamb has just produced more. Will make some cash, and is firming as a season long hold.
8/9/10 - Coker, Young, Chuba - 3 Panthers. Week 5 BYE. I repeat 3 Panthers. All set for good money making, but not sure you want all of them in your team. I can’t do the Bryce Young trade. Because. Panthers.
11. Deshaun Watson - Massaging his way to a minus 28 BE this week (ill see myself out). Understand the reason, but not something I can do.
12. Derrick Henry - Beware the King. The King with many many miles on him.
13. Travis Kelce - I don’t know about this one. Is this a reputation trade? He’s looked the good, but 11 targets last week is play off numbers for Kelce, and not necessarily what we can expect during the regular season.
14. Christian Watson - He is fit. For now. Packers will improve as well. Can see the appeal here, especially with the minus 15 BE.
15. Isaiah Likely - He can’t get much higher on the list this week, as he is well owned. If you started with him, I envy you. The price rise will be quick and fast, so be prepared to move off of him quick, especially with no Dart.
Happy Supercoaching ya’ll.
