3rd & BROWN | THE TIGHT END POSITION

Previewing the TE position is about as glamorous and unthankful task as the position is itself. I will be heading to therapy once this preview is completed. Last season Trey McBride finished 11th in SC scoring for non QB

Previewing the TE position is about as glamorous and unthankful task as the position is itself. I

will be heading to therapy once this preview is completed.

Last season Trey McBride finished 11th in SC scoring for non QB’s with 499 points. Kyle Pitts

with 326 points was the second highest SC scorer, good for 49th overall.

Seahawks kicker Jason Myers with 410 points (23rd overall) and Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn

with 388 points (25th overall) were some of the players that outscored all TE’s not named Trey.

Brock Bowers - The most owned TE and 7th most owned player overall. Should we be worried

that Kirk Cousins is his QB? Yes. QB’s that Bowers has caught passes from in the NFL to date -

Aidan O’Connell, Gardiner Minshew, Desmond Ridder and Gino Smith. Only played 12 games,

but a full season, whether the QB is Cousins or eventually Mendosa, he will be elite. Must have.

Trey McBride - 3.8 million dollars more expensive than Bowers. The Cardinals are so bad, but

like Bowers, Trey finds a way. I dont see how you can have both of these guys.

Colston Loveland/Tyler Warren - The 2 rookies from last year, can they take a leap and enter

the conversation as best SC option at the position? I think you need one of these 2 alongside

either Bowers or McBride, but which one?? Toss a coin. Almost identically priced, similar team

projections (Bears 9.5 wins, Colts 8.5 wins). Bears offense might have more mouths to feed,

and with Pittman leaving the Colts, that has swung Warren in as my choice for my team.

Assuming your TE is made up of 2 of the 4 players above, what in the actual fuck are we meant

to do with the 3rd NPR TE spot??

The ROOKIE class is uninspiring, Kenyon Sadiq is 3rd most owned, but 31st projected scorer

on Sleeper. Eli Stowers is 14th most owned, and 34th projected scorer.

Isaiah Likely - Is he likely (see what I did there) to be a difference maker?? No. But 15th highest

projection vs 42nd highest price, he is by far and away the best valued guy here, which his 3rd

placed, 47% ownership suggests.

Mark Andrews is a nostalgic pick, but being the 8th most owned TE is insane.

You can’t spend money on the NPR TE, so it really is down to the rookies or Likely in my

humble opinion. I am not a Likely believer, so I settled on Bowers, Warren and Sadiq as my TE

trio.

I will say this though, Kirk Cousins worries me. Could you look at starting with Warren and

Loveland, and spend that 4.2 million dollars to upgrade elsewhere?? And then pick Bowers up

at a discount right about when the Cousins wheels fall off and Mendoza takes over in week 5 or

6?
