The quarterback position might be the best chance to zig when others zag. Roster management
is key here, but you do need to have 2 x premium plus 1 x rookie to start the season, but which
ones to pick is the million dollar question I will try and help answer today. Looking at the
ownership numbers as at 5pm, 4th of September.
Firstly, looking at the top 30 QB rankings based on Supercoach price -
1. Josh Allen - $30,000,000
2. Matt Stafford - $27,230,00
3. Patrick Mahomes - $27,140,000

28. Bryce Young - $18,270,000
29. Joe Flacco - $18,010,000
30. JJ McCarthy - $17,350,000
Now as much as we love Supercoach, we can all agree that whoever/however they come up
with their projected scores, doesn’t really know what they are doing. Sleeper is my weapon of
choice when it comes to fantasy football, so ill be using these rankings to project out the QB
scores for the season. Looking at these rankings -
1. Josh Allen
2. Lamar Jackson
3. Drake Maye
4. Jalen Hurts
5. Jayden Daniels
6. Joe Burrow
7. Dak Prescott
8. Trevor Lawrence
9. Brock Purdy
10. Caleb Williams
11. Jaxon Dart
12. Bo Nix
13. Justin Herbert
14. Patrick Mahomes
15. Jarred Goff
16. Kyler Murray
17. Matthew Stafford
18. Jordan Love
19. Malik Willis
20. Sam Darnold
21. CJ Stroud
22. Bryce Young
23. Cam Ward
24. Daniel Jones
25. Geno Smith
26. Fernando Mendoza
27. Aaron Rodgers
28. Jacoby Brissett
29. Michael Pennix Jr
30. Deshawn Watson
Fernando Mendoza still remains the only rookie starting QB. He has to be the first player picked
in your team.
The Supercoach ownership percentages support that ground break synopsis. Looking at the top
10 owned -
1. Fernando Mendoza - 53% owned - There is going to be a lot of chasing the scoreboard
for the number 1 draft pick, and with Bowers and the catching of running back Jeanty, its
hard to argue he won’t be the biggest money maker for the season. He gets Dolphins,
Chargers and Saints in the first 3 games of the season, 3 teams not known for defense.
He then rolls into Chiefs, Patriots, Bills and Rams, so if you want him, you want him now.
You should have him now.
2. Josh Allen - 45% owned - I might be in the minority, but he is an avoid for me. Just to
start the season. Hear me out. Starts the season at the Texans, the consensus best
defense in the NFL. He might be available for a discount after the first price changes roll
through. I could also be wrong and he is more expensive. I think there is some better
money making QB’s that won’t cost you a lot of points. More on that soon.
3. Lamar Jackon - 37% owned - Sleeper Fantasy has him projected as the second highest
scoring QB behind Josh Allen. I don’t see it. The injury concerns are too high for me.
4. Joe Burrow - 11% owned - A huge drop from the top 3. I started with Burrow last year,
and I will not be burned again.
5. Deshaun Watson - 9.9% - The man has been banned from more massage parlours then
he has thrown touchdowns in the last 2 years. This is 9.9% too high. A confused QB
room, but the Browns are going to Browns.
6. Carson Beck - 6.6% owned - Brissett to be named as started. Could be a cash cow in
the middle of year, but you don’t need him now.
7. Matthew Stafford - 6.3% owned - How many of this 6.6% are going to watch him in
Melbourne next weekend? High powered offense, but the price is way too high for me.
8. Drake Maye - 5.6% owned - Going from a last placed schedule to a first placed
schedule will be tough for the overachieving Maye this year. Sleeper has him 3rd highest
point total though, so maybe I am wrong here.
9. Caleb Williams - 5% owned - In the interest of full disclosure, Williams currently has the
captain armband on my team. In the only division with all 4 teams having division title
aspirations ( I am not counting Tampa winning the NFC South with an 8 and 9 record).
The schedule is tough, but he’s my guy. For now.
10. Kyler Murray/Patrick Mahomes - 4.3% owned - Beware the wounded champion
(Mahomes), and be wary to avoid the guy on a new team who maybe should have taken
up the baseball contract he was once offered (Murray)
QB’s outside of the top 10 that interest me -
Malik Willis - $15,110,000 - 3.4% owned - Oddly priced, but with the Tua experience over in
Miami, can this become Malik’s house? They could easily have the worst record, which means a
lot of playing from behind, but who exactly is he throwing too?
Justin Herbert - $24,070,000 - 3.1% owned - I am a Chargers fan. Herbert currently sits in my
flex. Feels a bit more heart than head. I have another idea for my flex -
Jayden Daniels - $21,390,000 - 2.5% owned - Sleeper has him as the 5th highest scorer in their
projections. Supercoach has him priced as the 19th most expensive QB. One of these is wrong.
In other news, welcome Jayden Daniels to my SC team. Also shout out to the 0.8% of
Supercoach’s that own Jalon Daniels the back up QB for Tampa. Check you have the right J
Daniels fam.
Brown, out.
